Play hockey during the Bovelander Classic Hockey Camp!

At Bovelander, we know that you never play hockey alone - you always play as a team. That's why not only hockey skills but also teambuilding are key elements of the Classic Hockey Camp. It is the perfect mix of hockey and fun! The camp is open to all hockey players aged 9 to 16, and goalkeepers are, of course, more than welcome!

The camp

Location

The Classic Hockey Camp is designed for players of all levels and ages. Participants aged 12 to 16 can join us during the summer holidays in Zandvoort, at De Zandvoortsche Hockey Club. You'll stay in four-person tents at the campsite and play hockey on a beautiful pitch surrounded by the Zandvoort dunes.

Participants aged 9 to 13 can come to the camp at HDS in The Hague. Here you will also sleep in tents at the hockey club. Both locations are not far away from the beach, so besides the hockey programme, there will be some time to cool down at the beach.

Program

A Week Full of Hockey at Bovelander

At the Classic Hockey Camp, we train approximately three times a day, with each session focussing on a different aspect of the game. This ensures well-rounded training, allowing you to work on both your strengths and weaknesses. Our staff will provide all the support you need. Throughout the week, you'll also compete in the Bovelander Hockey League, ending with thrilling finals!

The Bovelander Staff

Every morning is all about hockey. Our experienced Bovelander staff will teach you everything there is to know about the game. Some of them attended Bovelander camps as kids, while others return year after year as staff members. They bring passion, experience, and motivation - not just during training, but all day long.

The staff works together to give you an amazing experience, and they are always available, even at night, to ensure everyone gets a good night's rest.

Activities

The Bovelander staff goes all out to make your week unforgettable! Besides training and the tournament, we organise team-building activities and games to boost team spirit. In the evenings, you will enjoy games like Bovie's Got Talent and Cluedo. There is also a beach hockey tournament and, to wrap up the week, a Silent Disco!

Included:

  • A place to sleep at the hockey club with your friends;

  • Three tasty and healthy meals a day;

  • Cool camp goodies: Bovelander sweater, sports shirt, and water bottle!

Do you love playing hockey, but also want to learn surfing? Have a look at our Ultimate Beach & Hockey Camp!

Please note: In Zandvoort, we organise a special international week! From July 26th to August 1st, where all instructions will be given in English (unless you are in a group of only Dutch kids). In all other weeks, instructions will be given in both Dutch and English.

Experiences of others

“What a lovely experience my daughter had. She enjoyed the hockey learning opportunity and is looking forward to the next camp.”

“Pepijn heeft vaak aan de Bovenlander buitenkampen mee gedaan en was altijd enthousiast over de begeleiding, tips, tricks, spelletjes enz. Deze keer minder. Kan ook doordat ze maar met 3 jongens waren. Zelf vond ik als ouder de begeleiding minder actief en enthousiast t.o.v. vorige kampen. Overigens is dit geen verwijd, maar zo heb ik het ervaren en ook begrepen van de jongens. Volgende keer weer lekker buiten.”

Additional staff are assigned to small groups and will accompany the children throughout the day.

Special requests
My child would like to come to a mini/junior camp, but is too young. Can they still join?

Our website shows the age categories for the different camps. Most of the time it's no problem if the child is a bit younger than the average age. We would appreciate it if you let us know beforehand by calling or mailing, so we can take this into account.

My child would like to come to a camp, but is too old. Can they still join?

If your child is too old for the Mini Hockey Camp, they can join the Junior Hockey Camp. From age 12, they are welcome at the Hockey & Surf Camps at Zandvoortsche HC. Want them to join one last Junior Camp with friends? Contact us to discuss the options.

My child is a goalie. Are there special camps for goalkeepers?

Goalkeepers are also very welcome at our day and overnight camps. Please note that these camps are not for goalkeepers specifically! Please let us know so we're aware and can provide fun goalkeeper exercises.

Slaapkampen - Programma
What’s the difference between the Classic Hockey Camp, and Ultimate Beach & Hockey Camp?

During the summer holidays, we organize a sleepaway camp divided into two different programs. One program is the Ultimate Beach & Hockey Camp, where the children not only play hockey but also go to the beach. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they receive surfing lessons from our partner Pepsports. We also organize the Classic Hockey Camp, where the children only play hockey. The rest of the social program is shared, and the children sleep and eat at the same location.

How often do children train during camp?

The number of training sessions per day depends on the type of camp, like we mention above. We strive for two hockey moments before lunch and two afterwards. These can be general training, specialized training and tournament rounds. Depending on the weather and the social program we might decide to move the hockey moments around.

Are there non-hockey activities during camp?

During the sleep camps in Zandvoort the children will regularly visit the beach or Zandvoorts town centre for games or activities. During some of the other sleep camps the staff wil take the children swimming or take them on another fun activity.

Sleep Camps – Arrival & Departure
My child is going to one of the camps. What time should they arrive and what time can I pick them back up?

The junior sleep camps start Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM and end on Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM. The sleep camps at Zandvoortsche HC and HC HDS start on Sunday at 1:00 PM and end on Saturday at 0:30 PM. The Ultimate Hockey & Fun Camps start on Sunday at 1:00 PM and end on Friday at 0:30 PM.

Can I bring my child later or pick them up earlier due to holiday plans?

If a child misses a day this is mostly no problem. Contact us beforehand to tell us about it and list it on the registration form, so we can make sure the staff knows about it.

My child is arriving at one of your camps from abroad. Is it possible that they are picked up form an airport of train station nearby?

On the registration form you can indicate that your child would like to use the pick-up/drop-off service. This service entails that a member of staff or one of our employees picks your child up from an airport (Amsterdam/Rotterdam) or train station nearby. We'll make sure your child knows it's us and we'll escort them to and from the airport or train station.

Will my child have time to unpack on the day of arrival?

On the first day of camp the children will have plenty of time to unpack and get to know the other children at the camp. Once all children have arrived and gotten to know eachother, the hockey program will start.

Will my child have time to pack on the day of departure?

On the last day of camp the children will have plenty of time to pack their belongings. Is your child leaving early on the final day? We'll make sure the staff let your child know, so they can leave on time.

Sleep Camps - Sleeping
Where does my child sleep during an Ultimate Beach & Hockey Camp or a Classic Hockey Camp?

During the hockey and surf camps in Zandvoort the children will sleep in tents with four beds. Who bunks with who is determined by us, we will keep the children's preferences in mind. These preferences can be listed on the registration form. Is your child coming alone? We'll make sure they will bunk with age-mates.

Is it possile for my child to share a tent with friends?

We determine who share a tent during the hockey and surf camps at Zandvoort beforehand. We take the children's preferences in mind. The tents fit four children each. Do you want to share a tent with more than four friends? We will try to split the group over multiple tents.

Do boys and girls sleep separated?

For all our camps boys and girls sleep separately in different tents. The staff also sleeps separated from the children, but they will of course be close by.

Sleep Camps – Packing
Can children bring their phone to camp?

During our sleep camps the children will make new friends with who they like to make pictures and exchange contact info. For this, the children can use their phones on moments indicated by staff. The rest of the time the phones are turned in to the staff. So the children are free to bring their phone, but it's not mandatory!

What should my child bring to camp?

Three weeks before the start of the camp each participant will get a camp newsletter that lists the latest info and what you should bring to camp.

To get a general idea, here is a basic packing list:

  • Sleeping bag, pillow and bedsheet: the children sleep om field beds. Thin sleeping mats are provided, if you want to bring a matress this is possible, but no larger than 70 cm by 200 cm.
